WICKED on Broadway in New York City
What a most exciting treat for me!! Jim surprised me on our 34th anniversary when he took me to the Gershwin Theater to see the awesome WICKED!!
The Gershwin Theatre was named in honor of one of America's greatest composers, George Gershwin, and his brother, lyricist Ira Gershwin. The theatre's rotunda was designed to showcase the names and photographs of Broadway's own Theater Hall of Fame.Theatre audiences now enjoy an exhibition on display throughout the main lobby of costumes, opening night gifts, props, stage notes, and other items from the personal collections of such Broadway luminaries as Carol Channing, Julie Harris, Lynn Fontanne, Angela Lansbury, Bernadette Peters, John Raitt, Chita Rivera, Tommy Tune, Irene Worth and many others. The Gershwin opened in 1972 with 1,900 seats, and is one of The Nederlander Organization's nine Broadway theatres. What's it about?Long before Dorothy drops in, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of how these two unlikely friends grew to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.

THE DOUBLE TREE HOTEL
December 26, 2007 is our 34th wedding anniversary. We chose to come to New York City to celebrate from December 26 - 29th. The streets were so packed with people who are coming into the city for the New Years Eve celebrations. We stayed in the Double Tree right on Time Square at the corner of 47th and 7th.
